Two days ago we had our first class trip this year to *drumroll*... a chocolate gallery, a batik handicraft workshop and lastly, the aquarium in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre! It really was quite an exhausting day, thank goodness there was no Phys Ed test the next day.
POWERPUFF GIRLS! (it's POWER RANGERS, lol) |
Note: As we have said earlier, we were not supposed to be revealing ourselves so soon in the future, but as it is troublesome to blur out all our faces in each photo, we've decided to leave them there and let you decide who is who.
We set off at about 7.40 in the morning along with a... *cough* friendly *cough* bus driver. We didn't actually talk to him, though. It was rowdy in the bus, with the sounds of chattering everywhere and music playing throughout the ride. We took tons of selfies that ended up deleted, watched anime crack videos and laughed till our stomachs hurt, but nonetheless it was a lively trip.
We reached the batik center first at about 9 something. Since we had some time to kill (our batik session was at 10.30 due to some of our friends coming along later due to performances), our bus turned back and stopped at guess where? The Chocolate Gallery!
We have an absolute chocolate freak in our class whom we always pick on. We saw her eyes widen with ecstasy when she merely heard the word. As we got down from the bus, we did a headcount so that we could be sure everyone was here.
A lady ushered us in and showed us the cacao pods, where they only harvest the cacao seeds and process them in factories through conching, which makes cacao (or cocoa?) butter. (Credits to geography teacher for the chocolate knowledge, actually!) We were then brought inside and were shown a magnificent work of chocolate art: twin dark chocolate dragons with a pearl made of white chocolate in between. We all ogled at it and I personally thought of taking it home when one of us noticed there were ants inside the glass casing... eww! (That is one ugly pic )*sigh
The lady told us that it had been there for eleven years, and kept at room temperature so that it will not melt. Can you imagine it? Eleven years! Anyway, she then led us down a corridor to a counter full of goodies, and introduced various types of chocolate to us, such as black sesame chocolate, tongkat ali (ginseng), green tea chocolate (?), and even chili chocolate! And then she took out a packet of small brown chocolate eggs coated with cocoa powder, and to our amazement and horror, began to smash it on the counter. Hard. The chocolate barely had a crack after all the smashing. All of us were SURPRISED and of course, we did wonder if it will break our teeth but it amazingly wouldn't.
After all the touring around the chocolate gallery, we went to the Batik Handicraft workshop. When we reached the center, we had 1 hour to spare before the workshop so we toured around the batik handicraft centre, but the things there were EXTREMELY expensive, so most of us thought it was not worth it so we didn't get anything. We weren't supposed to take pictures but hey... AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!
In the workshop, we were given pieces of cloth to draw our designs. We used hot wax to draw our designs, then we blended different colored dyes onto our drawings. The batik experts guided us with our batik making and gave us many useful tips. It was hard and tiring work but most of ours turned out well. MOST.
After we finished our batik and left it to dry, we went to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) to have our lunch and go to the aquarium, Aquaria. There were a few stalls selling food; it took us almost ten minutes to figure out what to eat. In the end, we still chose western food. Their pizza wasn't really that nice but it was filling at the least.
At last, Aquaria!
Although some of us had been there a few couple of times already, it was still fun because we went with our classmates instead of our families. Fish was really excited, and kept babbling about meeting her relatives. We saw many types of beautiful and healthy sea creatures like...
A shrimp...
A unicorn fish...
A pedophile super weird fish thingy...(it's a STINGRAY)
We even watched the divers feeding the sharks, there's only one word we can describe them with. BRAVE. We wouldn't have dared to do that. While the divers were feeding, a sea turtle was trying to be cheeky and attempted to take some fishes from the bucket. Alas, it didn't get to have any because the divers were just in time to take them away from it.
After the trip to Aquaria, our original plan was to return to the handicraft center to pick up our artwork, but to our surprise and delight when we boarded the bus, good old Mr. Bus Driver had already picked them up for us! Told you he was friendly.
Whew. That was a long story. It's probably not a summary anymore.
